On-road or off-road?
This is the first big question to ask yourself: do you want to go off-road, or mainly stick to the tarmac? At RedSands, we offer both highly capable 4WDs and comfortable 2WD Campervans and Motorhomes - so whatever you choose, we’ve got you covered.
If this is your first time in Australia and you’re travelling with limited time, a 2WD is a fantastic option. It will comfortably and easily take you to all of Australia’s highlights. From the beautiful forests of Western Australia’s South West to the rugged landscapes of Shark Bay and Karijini National Park, and from iconic Uluru in the Northern Territory to Lake Argyle in the Kimberley, our 2WD campervans and motorhomes are perfect for exploring must-see destinations without going off-road.
Have you visited Australia before, or are you planning an extended trip of three to four weeks or longer? A 4WD might be your perfect fit! It gives you the freedom to explore even the most remote corners of Australia and camp in the middle of nowhere. From the famous Gibb River Road (WA), with its incredible station stays, gorges and swimming holes, to the remote corners of Kakadu (NT) and the white-sand beaches of Esperance (WA), very few places are off-limits. It’s an experience you won’t easily forget.
Sleeping options
We all love a good night’s sleep, especially after a full day of exploring! All our vehicles (except our 4WD Prado) offer very comfortable sleeping facilities, so you can rest up properly for the next day’s adventures.
If you prefer to sleep inside your camper, our 4WD Wanderer Campers are a fantastic option. Your bed is permanently set up, so you can hop straight in at night. Our 2WD Campervan ‘The Cruiser’ and Motorhome ‘The Frontier’ also offer indoor sleeping, with seating areas that quickly convert into a spacious and comfy bed. Easy peasy!
If you’re after a more adventurous camping experience, our 4WD Rooftop Campers are a great choice. The rooftop tents are quick and easy to set up and feature a comfortable high-density foam mattress for a great night’s sleep. Few things beat waking up to breathtaking views from your very own rooftop ‘penthouse’.
Cooking up a storm
Cooking facilities can be an important factor in choosing your camper. Whether you’re a Michelin-star chef or more of a simple-pasta person, you’ll want reliable cooking equipment. Luckily, all our vehicles come well equipped, though there are some differences to consider.
Our Campervan ’The Cruiser’ and Motorhome ‘The Frontier’ include all your kitchen essentials. ‘The Cruiser’ features a portable induction cooker for outdoor cooking, while inside you’ll find a large 150-litre fridge/freezer and even a microwave. Perfect for reheating last night’s dinner while parked somewhere scenic. ‘The Frontier’ takes things a step further, with a full indoor kitchen, an even larger 190-litre fridge/freezer, a microwave, and a built-in induction cooktop.
Opting for a 4WD Camper instead? All our 4WDs come with a custom-built kitchen unit, complete with plenty of cupboards and drawers for utensils, plates and pans (all included, of course). The Wanderer Campers feature an 80-litre upright fridge/freezer, while our 4WD Rooftop Campers come with a 40-litre slide-out fridge. Induction cooking is available with the Wanderer Luxe only - our other 4WD campers are equipped with a handy portable gas cooker and two pre-filled 2kg gas bottles.
And if you enjoy a coffee first thing in the morning, you’re in luck! Our 2WD Campervans, Motorhomes, and The Wanderer ‘Luxe’ all come with a Nespresso machine, so you can enjoy your morning brew without even leaving your campsite.
